Enzymes
What are Pancreatic Enzymes?
As part of the digestion process, the body produces enzymes which help to break down different parts of the food – fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Pancreatic Enzymes are produced in the pancreas. When they are not made in sufficient quantities they can be topped up with enzyme supplements.
How much do I need to use?
There is no exact dose and depending on the breed of dog and what kind of food they eat, they amount of enzymes needed will change. We suggest starting with the lowest recommended amount and slowly increasing until you see the desired results.
Should I use the Powder or Capsules
There is no difference with the functionality. The capsules can be easier to administer and you have a fixed amount of powder in each capsule but if you need to use a lot of enzyme supplement the powder can be more cost effective.
How do I use the enzyme products?
They are simply added to your pet’s food before they eat.
How quickly will I see results?
The enzymes act immediately on the food so, when the dosage is correct, you will see an immediate improvement.
Can the enzymes damage my pet’s mouth?
The enzyme supplements break down protein, fat and carbohydrates and can’t distinguish between the proteins in your pet’s mouth or those in the food. If the enzyme supplements are in prolonged contact with your pet’s mouth they can produce sores. Ensure your pet always has water available to remove any excess powder.
